Hey everyone.
City of Eternal Star is just over the half way point in development. I would put it at around the 65% mark.
The majority of the zone map has been completed. At the moment, I am building many of the side area rooms associated with the main sketch from the last update.
It wont be long until we start spawning these gods in the city and begin testing.
Here is a rendered preview of the buildings!

Here is some more clarification on things.
The new gods in the zone, work just like the other gods in the game (Like.. synge, Detox, or Threk). The 10 gods work on the following timers..
2x One day spawn
2x Two day spawn
2x Three day spawn
1x Four day spawn
1x Five day spawn
1x Six day spawn
1x Seven day spawn
(10 gods total)
At the moment, we have these gods planned as 15 man raids. This may be subject to change.
All items from the gods loot table will be completely tradeable. The only items that will be player bound are items that come as quest rewards, which at this point is less than 5 items.
Passage into the City of Eternal Star, will only be granted to players who have completed the kix woods questline (and Eyes of Burn).
Any other questions, fire away here and Ill do my best to get to them. The next update here in the forums will probably be small. I imagine 2 weeks from now we will have begun testing, and will be looking for a release date.

I understand you're balancing things, but this just looks odd in my eyes. Perhaps it's that new, fresh feeling... :)
Anyway, I'd love to see a pair of 5 man raids and some larger, 40 man raids. But bringing in new raids AT ALL is MUCH appreciated!
As for the player bound items... there'll only be 5 quests where you'll get items? What about the rest? Cause I hope this'll be quite filled with quests, with more than one quest line...

I agree. I like the idea of the gods...but why only 15 mans? I say throw in a little diversity...mix things up some to give us more to play with ;)

If so, how hard will the gods be, cus it seems to me that if its gonna bring new and stronger items into the game, the highest raids will be for the big crew, using the same 15 ppl over and over again to get the items. Which means that no players outside the absolute topcrews will have a chance to complete.
If its build up that way, i gotta say that this will not be an update im looking forward to anymore. I loved EOB and Kix, but i want quests that i can do in a crew, with my friends. Not quests that are imposible because of big crews going for the gods

maybe im wrong, but from what i understood of what err whoever wrote the preview said, there are 5 quests that involve killing the gods to get the items....maybe...if that makes sense lol :)

If you read back through you'll understand the quests aren't the main quests, theyll be probably a few small ones or the epic quests (which is only done by big crews anyone) The quests you're looking for will be part of the second phase which i really doubt will have phase 1 as a pre requisite, if you're that worried about not being able to take gods how about we cap every other god on ow? No because thats unfair, if a crew has the ability to take a god why stop them? they've earned the ability to do so, all you can do is sit back and fight against them.

I agree, i feel like we need more larger gods that CAN be defeated (unlike windstrike) either with pot sets or without.
And maybe even a raided set. Dest was the last raid dropped set and no one really raids it unless its for multis.
But yes, new raids are much appreciated.

i am pretty agains this. as now u will have to CHOOSE which g0ds to beat. and also lower crews can beat lower if u will go for bigger and be capped. :P

God cap shouldn't be increased - More gods equals more choices and it gives the lower crews a better chance at getting the lower gods that are constantly camped for life forces - Now the main crews will need to decide (aka; make more multi crews :-/).

They should use real players to test. BUT i'm really looking forward to CoES :D
(if there's any chance to get into some kind of test team, i'm happy to signup for that :P)

They wont be for 50 people on the server, im sure some of them are going to be easier etc, which means that once the first few raids with that 50 people ish in the big crews you say have done it, remember what happened with space ranger? once the big crews members go through it, most of the time theres the odd few people who just want the quest and no other rewards, im pretty sure you could get yourself into the raids, if not, do what everyone with the right idea has done, join a big crew and hope for the best, all the big crews have mutli crews etc, work your way to a position in one of the raids.
Remember theres always more than one way to skin a cat...
But like i said earlier (still waiting on confirmation) im pretty sure that the raids quests will be relatively small or the epic quests (aimed at a relatively small amount of people anyway) and will hold not much bearing to those players who cant find their way into the raids anyway, and tbh the second phase of cotes should give everyone that nice little boost all eob and kix gave us so don't worry about it, lets wait and see on the raid quests tbh
i'm looking forward to this update, gonna be intresting to see what it drops, only thing i dont like means ive gotta either join a crew or make a 15 man crew for this update, but its nice to finally hear only 5 items will be player bound thats alot better than everything like the last few content updates have been
also like people have said dont test it with sword of a thousand truths lol test it with real accounts, id be up for some testing if need be

Yeah if you guys want people who will take the time to test let us know. i dont mind being on a test team to sort out bugs. I dont even care it wont count towards my game character. I would just like to see you guys with people who are willing to test the hell out of it to make it run beautiful and get it running well.

The best way to test is to take several samplings, not just top tier - Unless of course this content is ONLY designed for level 70's in celestial.
its a lvl 55-70 area so the majority of accounts will have celestial items, espically with the amount of xp u get from eob and kix woods
i just dont want another top end content being added and admins test it with swords of a thousand turths as we all saw what a huge **** up that did to BRB when it was first added

why not put a raid where 40 is the minimum to stop these early launches on big gods lol
or make it so only 1 account on your rga has to have completed kix per server this way u can let all these nubs with multi crews take part in the gods without having to go thru eob n kix with all there multis aswell.. like shisch himself for example as this could delay him in the new city for weeks or even months til he has dced 15 thru eob and kix. lol
tbh i cnt wait any idea of the amount of exp we will be able to gain and since its a new city with new exp u guys gona be upping the max level since us level 70s wont reli gain much thru gettin the exp from the new quests especially if we already have most of the enhancements :/

Hey, seems cool to be implementing a whole new section onto the outwar maps. However, there is one major concern I have at the moment:
Are the bosses being designed so that players can currently kill them? Even with a full 15 people? Obviously the One Day spawns should be designed at least that way... but is your design team designing the other encounters so that they won't be defeated for a pretty long time?
It would be lame to see a group of people in all Celestial go in and just constantly farm all 10 of the gods cause they are the only ones with the gear on the first day. So, hopefully most of the encounters won't be able to be defeated for quite some time.

If someone has 5 lvl 60 multies with eob and kix done that means they can take it, this way it leaves it for real crews to take the gods. Also the player bound items they already states are for QUest, and if you were paying attention to preview number 1 its going to be a CREW quest, which makes sense then for them to be playerbound. I also don't feel big crews will monopolize atleast the first 5 gods, due to it would take up way too much cap space and leave no room for dreg/nar/other 5 man gods. If anything its gunna open the playing field for smaller crews to ketch up and put more points into the economy due to more crews taking other gods and getting more points. Also the gods can't be that bad, considdering the minimum for eob was lvl 45, and for kix was 50 i believe. So 15 lvl 60's should be able to take atleast some of the gods from my understanding. I also like how there are 10 new gods coming out with non playerbound items. Seems like rampid is actually starting to listen to the players. I like it, now lets just see how it really is when all the talk is done and the content is actually released

Only main quest. thats why ring and belt are SIDE-quests. :)
BTW .... will the quest items have a oeb/kixx darn small drop rate?

It is just the main quest line, it already says then when your done the main quest line in kix, belt and ring are just side quests u can do whenever

I'm quite fine actually, I've got plans ;)
Besides, I definitely don't think they should design content to fit multi crews, rather try to get rid of it... this might not fit my own agenda but it's how a successful game is done. Take any MMO, you can't play more than 1 character on your account at the same time in a raid.. yes, you can box (play two or more accounts at once), but that's insanely hard if you want to be successful.

You need the radiation meter, which you get from the main quest. Nothing else.

I said to make some 40 man raids. Yes only the active crews could kill those, if they have the strength, but what makes that unfair? That they were more active than your crew?
It just makes more sense when you point that out, in my eyes...

Well seeing as though these raids will prob be elemental based, sticking with the current 15-20 man elemental gods now is a good enough path...
I see the smaller amount needed more in the favor of the smaller independent crews as well...They just need to work on their top 15, and those smaller crews do make up the majority of crews these days...Its more beneficial as a whole this way...
I do agree with the harder working crews should get that activeness paid off in return idealism, but not in a quest based scenario that so many have waited for for so long...

IDK if this has been said or not, cause I just skimmed through the postings, but I suggest that in order for a crew to raid one of the new gods, at least half of the people in the raid must be at the quest step in wich you need to kill or get something from said god. I think that this will help stop the top crews from just camping the new gods and killing them each time they spawn and not giving any smaller crews a chance, wich I saw ALLOT of people in this thread complaining about.

Easy, each member woud have to do eob-kix (offource) then i think they have to do the story line in Coes then they have to beat each god in the right order, as we had to do whit ele sets and gods as synge - quiver and so on

Cause making a crew have 30-40 members actually DO kix is a dumb idea compared to have 3 people put 5 chars/multis through kix so they can raid the gods?

If they make it that you need full KIX set as requirement that will be good. Also if the quests drop good drops and exp rewards it will be a good update lol and pretty much a good story line would be nice

I would say 15 is good 20 even better, cause with 5 man raids you have people that take it with multies,
I.E. synge and wanih ect, gets taken by multie crews for the points, thats not really fun for the new people and accounts who really can use those stuff, those crew need a goal to.
much better if you need more people so you take it as a crew, and you really have to do something for it,

If you upped the cap limit to 20 i think i would quit this game... that would make it so big crews can still take 10 gods a week plus 10 new gods a week? RETARDED IDEA
not really looking forward to this update as i am in a crew of friends, not many of us and certainly not enough to do 15 people raids in CoES but hopefully big crews can do this new content and it will use up more cap space making it easier for us smaller crews to take the gods we have power to take...
i doubt this will actually happen because of all the over powered multi crews about but still it would be nice

I keep hearing this... Multi does this multi does that... OW made a huge mistake IMO when it introduced the multis. This went on with skills and now with multi crews taking lower gods and perhaps even with the economy as a side effect.
Drop the damn multis... I hate it, and maybe more people feel the same way.
I don't want to play and EMO rpg in which you make a multi crew, stay in it... turn off the light and have fun by yourself. The comunity should be a comunity...

he does have a point (were a lil off topic now i mo) sometimes i have got bored of my main because i run out of quests and dc'ing day in day out gets repetative if you got no hitlist to smash....
when i get that bored i quit outwar for a while or level up some of my lower chars (i know im a feckin sad-o like the others) :)

once you get to level 70 its kinda boring. even with enhancements. so some people make more of their multis get to level 70 and beat even more people to level 70 ;)

sorry but IMO, either they shouldn't have made multi's or not made it SOOO many... maybe like 5-10 tops, not 25...
Finally someone got my point... :| it woould be better! Some would be too lazy or not interested in creating new accs. The item transfers wouldn't be so easy. Instead of this they made them PB (RG acc bound... now that would mess it up WORSE). Maybe i'm wrong here... And yes... i do get bored sometimes but that is maybe because of the content... or better said lack of it or infernally small drop rates. Besides... hitting lvl 70 is end game anyway :)

ON TOPIC:
COES looks great...
The solo content -> tons of places to include tons of quests... just don't make the same mistakes with the drop rate and nerfing as with KIX. It pisses players off and makes them stop doing the quest or even quit. I give up KIX ring... the drop is infernal... and there are other quests i also dropped because of this.
The raids... what can i say... LVL 55 - 70 sounds like a pretty huge lvl and power difference here... so it might be troublesome for some. I'm glad they think about doing content for lvl 70's also :) just don't make it 70s ONLY.

IDK if this has been said or not, cause I just skimmed through the postings, but I suggest that in order for a crew to raid one of the new gods, at least half of the people in the raid must be at the quest step in wich you need to kill or get something from said god. I think that this will help stop the top crews from just camping the new gods and killing them each time they spawn and not giving any smaller crews a chance, wich I saw ALLOT of people in this thread complaining about.
Because we want to punish top crews for being active...

I would imagine them releasing all of CoES content at the same time since it takes forever to get a third preview. They also want to do it like so because they want us to personally test for their oped items, bugs that can't make the content enjoyable, and of course, the usual, "OMFG, NERF THIS SH*T NAO."

IF you read the original preview, this is phase one,
phase one is raid content based yes
however phase 2 cotes is the single player kix/ eob style
I knew i read somewere that its only god content first, answers the questions of people below :) Was bored at work so i thought id find the answer for you
also out of curiousity whens our next preview? or do we have to wait till its finished then you will give us finished content when it gets tested (hope so)

The next update here in the forums will probably be small. I imagine 2 weeks from now we will have begun testing, and will be looking for a release date.
Nick, i know that you must have been busy with woz or something, but i hope you will have another update coming soon, as its over a month since last update. Words goes around on mirc, that you might release both the raid based and solo based content right from the start. Can you confirm that?

OMG I can't wait to see this new content come out!!! well not really just can't wait to see how bad they **** it up. There is a 99% chance it will be ****ed up boring and pointless and will upset everyone...so my advice is expect the update to be shitty and hope it surprises you (most likely it wont).....

They were doing live tests on Torax server with a real crew and ppl moaned. Can't wait to see how over powered it is now since admins have admin-only weapons

I feel if they are gonna test something.. they should test it with the best gear that we can obtain... Or close to it. Like a full celest set (without the glove) and a proton or something that's pretty common on each server.

that's just dumb. not everyone has that stuff and coes isnt just for lvl 70s since it starts after you finish kix . so around lvl 55 . lvl 55s cant have celest

actually the crew that tested it used characters with level 55 to 70, all had different items on.

Yeh, the hype that was about this update has gone, you need to keep people excited, and give us some update about this. I guess you could have released this update weeks ago, but is to focused on Gold and E3.. Release it, or a least give us some updates on what is going on

Mobs over powered like always. Lvl 59 unskilled cant even kill the lvl66 mobs.. people who completed kix by the skin on there teeth have no chance on this. Can you say Screw the weak!

It only makes sense, you're just mad your multis can't do this easily.

Nup, my multis have progressed since completing kix. The items they have are better than the sov items. I'm not mad i cant do it on multis, its just the reason why. The mobs are just to dam hard to beat & im not the only one who thinks so. The people who gemmed there sov set have no chance. A friend of mine got the complete set 4gem lvl10 emp, stel, vitx lvl 57 & cant beat them unless he gives a block or two.
Not to be constantly putting things down, but this clearly has given a gap between the strong & the week. People who completed kix should be able to progress into coes. The bonus of getting strong is killing the gods/spawns. However this aint the case, they just cant get in period.

i think the other mobs in outwar are too easy to beat that is the problem, mobs are level 60 i can beat them with my level 55 unskilled, hows that make sense? not like he has awesome gear.
If your level 59 and they are level 66 then you should struggle to beat them without skills or uber gear it only makes sense.
