this is true, Rampid does want new players to go to crownsofpower.com and check out otherthings.. as such with the Rampid Promotion Team we are suppose to Direct new players to there Crowns of Power page.

Although I highly agree with downloading it as a Torrent.

Yes, for a large file like this. It's much quicker and you can pause the download if you need to turn your PC off.

It really depends honestly. I know I threw up the idea of a torrent when the newest beta went up.

Basically although one person downloading from a beefy webserver on a big network is going to get the best speeds, when 20 people start downloading at the same time, torrenting wins out.

700mb is a big file for me. and my internet randomly disconnects sometime. a couple of weeks ago when i was trying to get the crysis demo, the amount of times i had to restart got very fustrating.

i wouldnt mind seeing a torrent file for this. it would certainly help me out. and it could allow other people with slower connections to pause the download over night.

A torrent file would help a lot, i mean surely if you stop unauthorised torrents elsewhere other than from the site, you still get the traffic, and people get their choice, it certainly helps a lot of people with slow/ dodgy connections as they can just start and pause whenever they're online

Not really possible with BitTorrent as far as I'm aware.

They can only spread the original files uploaded.

I think it sounds like a good idea, even if I don't play the game. Torrents are far more stable and you can theoretically get to way higher speeds using it, than http downloads... of course, you cannot remove the http download option, but I doubt you were going to, anyway.

Hell, I might let you use some of my bandwidth if you create a torrent. Constant upload of 500kbps wouldn't hurt I think.

if only using the original source (like i said to monitor unauthorised torrents and stop them) then hacks like schisch said, cannot be distributed...

either you dont understand how torrents work or you're being ignorant, If the seeds are there, your max dl can be achieved easily...

lol i get 10,000 (100 active) seeders and still 700kb/s. and 200 (4 active) peers

Well you've obviously never had a good experience then,
I've ran at 2500 on torrents before its all about the uploads of the seeds,
what i meant by ignorant was not understanding that you obviously have never had a proper torrent seeded by dedicated seeds,
CoP dl today for me having to redownload after forgetting to save the install before formatting: 150 kbps average

If you haven't downloaded anything from a private tracker, you obviously have no clue of what a torrent is capable of.

Public tracker:

no seeding rules
everyone quits seeding when their download is done
during they limit it to slow speeds.


Private tracker:

seeding rules
ratio of 0.500+ or you get banned*
ratio of 1.000+ or you get fewer slots (individual torrents, or fewer connections per torrent)*
ratio of 1.500+ and you get unlimited slots*

* Ratios vary from tracker to tracker, I used a common value

I think my max from a direct download is from microsoft.com at 4mbps... my max from a torrent is 11-12mbps.

My private tracker ratio is "only" at 7.6 ... my µTorrent ratio (yes it so happens I seed public torrents too) is at 13 :o
