what are trophies for?

just wondering, i remember long time ago they were used as medals, but now i only have those in my quest slot and they are kinda useless....

As Belgium posted the trophies you have now are for a quest which can be found in the Drunken Clam Inn and requires killing mobs in The Hall of Fame.

Trophies used to be apart of a big competition. If you collected enough money, which is also gone, you could purchase a trophy and receive trophy points dependent on how prestigious the trophy was and at the end of the month the person with the most trophy points would win points.
