View Full Version : Ideas for Forum

Positive/Negative comments:
Just like for youtube, if a player makes a stupid comment in a forum thread then we can give them a thumbs down. Get a certain amount of thumbs down then you can't post in that thread anymore.
Identification:
As you notice, our usernames are our Rampid Gaming usernames. I think we should be able to choose which of our account names we can have displayed underneath our RG username.
EDIT:
Account Ratings:
Just like for Ebay, we should be able to have 100% rating at the beginning and for every stupid comment, thumbs down of say...5 or more, we make we should have it decline by a percent. It can also be changed by the appropriate moderators. This way we know which players are a reliable source of input/information.
That's all I can think of atm. If anyone has any more ideas, feel free to leave a comment. :)

I like both ideas, and for #2 maybe next to your name maybe put what server you play on (or mostly on).

I like the pos/neg feedback idea, but people would just use multi's names and hide. It would be annonying.

Well it doesnt matter. They'd be thumbs-downing/"hitting" the rampid gaming account username. The names are just there for added show. The RG username would still be the username shown at all times. That means that the account, no matter the name displayed, wouldn't be able to post on that thread.

On the other hand, some people's RGA Names don't correspond with their main character's name. So if that feature were to be added, you would be able to let people know.

Exactly. You wouldn't have known I was Tarmac without looking at the links in my signature, and if someone didn't have any links to their profiles then we would never know.

Yeah I think the thumbs up/down vote would be ruined by multiple votes.. even if it was separated by rampid, people can make infinite rampid accounts :(

I doubt people would go thru the trouble of making tons of RGAs and switching accounts to give someone a thumbs down.

Never underestimate the amount of spare time some people have on their hands...

True, however I feel like it deserves to get a trial run. If it fails miserably then scrap it. If not, then keep it up for the forum moderators to monitor.

Well, I don't rememeber ever seeing a VBulletin mod that satisfies exactly what you want, and I'm definitely not going to bother coding one when I could be working on Outwar and letting the forum mods do their job instead. ;)

...and what a good job we do indeed :D
Both ideas are good, but lets be honest, it would easily be abused by the people that would prefer to act like children then to be constructive ;)

Yes the +/- point system would be abused and so pointless to code... but i like the idea of chosing which name you want to use on your RGA would be nice insted of it displaying your RGA username.

Hah. True. I know how cumbersome being a mod can be and I'm sure admins have it twice as hard.
How bout you let me code it! :D Well...everything except for the parts that require "confidential information" from the mainframe. =p

Exactly! I would have never guessed that Sparda1234 was DevilKnightSparda on the Sigil server. :(

The problem with having your RGA name as your profile name is that's 1/3 of the data someone needs to steal your account. Now you've only got 2 levels of protection whereas you intended to have 3...
