After downloading CoP version 1.0.0, Double clicking the .exe file to "run" the program does nothing., so the program does not reach the "install" stage.

Can you try deleting that file and then downloading it again from scratch. We have updated the download link and this may fix your problem.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

The install went ok, and the program updated itself. Now, when I double click the icon, it takes about 30 seconds for it to load, then my monitor flashes once, and nothing happens. I waited for 5 minutes for something to load, and nothing. I hit ctrl + alt + del and CoP.exe was using 99% of the processes.
I don't know if this is normal for it to load the first time or what, but can someone explain why? Thanks.
I already download and install successful but when i try to login there is errors message say:
Your connection to the server timed out. what can i do ? There is no problem with my internet connection.

Blaze and others,
Be sure you have the latest version Microsfto Framework v3.5 installed. Blaze from your report it looks like you have 2.0 installed.
CodeBase: file:///C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/mscorlib.dll
Please click this link to download the latest version from Microsoft website for free:

When you first load CoP try going to option and then turning down the detail level and the view distance in your graphics and game play menus.
This problem happens to a friend of mine who is on a laptop, it will hang at 98% and time out. This is a know issue and trying to login again you should get in eventually. We are actively trying to figure out why this is happening, let me know if you are able to get in!

The way to solve this problem is you need to delete your original CoP download, and then download the game again ... then click on the file where you have saved it and click run as administrator if you have that option when you right mouse click on it. Though only do this when the download has finished

done and still didn't work any other ideas
I downloaded and INSTALLED the latest version of .net
I downloaded and installed the latest upgrades to MicroSoft operating system (I have XP Pro).
I downloaded the MicroSoft recommended Creative audio files as well, even though my system has no real use for them other than for Crowns of Power, which seems to like them very much.
I deleted all of my "prefetch" files, ran a registry check and fixed all issues. I deleted all of the unneeded cookies and log files that the operating system generates. I "flushed" my RAM or wiped it clean to clear any deframented items. I defraged my hard drives. Then "cold booted" my system to start fresh.
I am no longer having launcher problems.
I am also getting framerates that average 65 when others are having lag issues and very low framerates in the teens and below. I am not saying that this is a cure, but it seemed to work for me.

after installing cop , i run the game it makes an update then says play i press play it gives a black screen and then gets me back to windows and the computer freezes , could that be a problem of running it on vista? cause i checked the vid card and ram and they are up to date

Now open up Windows Explorer, and browse to the directory you saved the file. You must double click and run this file and install the Microsoft framework update. Once the install is complete, restart your computer and try running Crowns of Power again.

I have this problem randomly with AOL Instant Messenger on my laptop. Try restarting your computer and then use Windows Explorer to find the directory Crowns of Power was installed and manually double click the Launcher.exe icon.
If this works try creating a new shortcut to use.

I already download and install successful but when i try to login there is errors message say:
Your connection to the server timed out. what can i do ? There is no problem with my internet connection.
I also have this happen to me from time to time on my laptop. I think it is because all of your memory is being used up and it can't finish loading the zone before the timeout kicks you out.
Try closing some other programs to free up some memory, or even closing unused processes from the control-alt-del task manager.
Also be sure to go to the options menu and decrease your view distance, this will GREATLY improve performance when you do get into the game. Try lowering the detail level under the graphics tab as well.
Do that and give it a couple tries, restart your computer to clear the memory and close everything you are not using.

I have the same problem as klepton.
When I try to start the game, the game appears on a black screen for a split second, then goes back to Windows.
After a few minutes I get an error message saying that there is not enough memory.
What can I do to make it work, or when can you fix this?
My operator system is Windows Vista.

Hey,
I used to be a Beta-Tester, but with school i had to stop playing for a while.. Now that im back, i downloaded the new game client and it updated to patch 1.3.0 sucessfully. I created a new character and selected Synge, however while its load initial data i get the following error message:
(invalid packet GameBase::unpackUpdate())
Once i click ok, i am returned to the login screen
If you could shed some light on how to fix this error i would be grateful, as i'd love to see whats changed since ive been gone, and get back into the game...
Cheers

I haven't heard anything about a linux version personally.
I think they were trying to make a MAC version, and of course there is the PC version (obviously), but no mention of a Linux one.
There are programs however that can you let run PC games in a Linux environment.

When I open the file up it says an error message "this file contains invalid data"
I've tried to download this 4 times now, i'm on my 5th time, it could be that the file wasn't downloaded properly, but my internet was connected overnight last night and when I got up this morning and had a look it was completed... apparently.

Yesterday when I tried to download the 1.7 patch, the launcher crashed, so I tried again and got the same results. The third time I opened the launcher I got a side by side configuration error. Since then I have tried re-downloading and installing, and when i try to download the first patch the launcher throws at me, i get an error:
c:\Program Files\Crowns of power\main\client\ui\GUIClaim.gui:
unknown version.
Not a clue what this means, everything had been working perfectly for 1 and a half+ weeks.
Oh yeah, I never get that side by side configuration error anymore.
does the admin even check this anymore? I read all 9 pages of this thread and it does not seem like it...

If you guys are getting unknown versions on specific files i would personally suggest deleting those particular files.. if your worried about the potential outcome of messing things up while doing this, or don't trust me.. make some backups of these files lol
I think that should fix it though.

After applying the last patches :
"This application failed to start because the application configuration is not correct. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem."
Uninstalling it and making all backfrom scratch ended at the same point.
Last patch didnt work like all the others, it was running in a cmd console and crash...
Is there a workaround for this ? - 'cause i am stuck.

If you are still having problems, download the latest version of the game at: http://www.crownsofpower.com/downloads.php When download is complete, run and complete the install process. You should now be able to play.
As of version 1.7.0 the new launcher should fix some problems people have had installing the game in the past. If you have downloaded and reinstalled and still have problems, please post them here.

If you get the error "The application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem." it means you need to install the C++ runtime libraries from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en
Install those and you should be able to run the game.

i just fixed my prob and was logging on to post solution..... by the way if your running vista there are 2 diffent runtime libraries that could be the right program you will need either 32 bit or 64 but you will have to uninstall the program then resinstall after you install runtime library or atleast i had to
when i press play the screen flashes and i get a Torque memory error that says Error allocating memory. shutting down so i press ok and then i get a CoP.exe - Application error and it says The instruction at "0x7c90100b" referenced memory at "0x00de0064" the memory could not be "read"
so....whats the way to resolve this? i checked and saw nothing on this :)

I've been an outwar player since like.. Round 1.. Round 2... Somewheres in there, and I just recently got back into it. So, I see this CoP all over the place and I decided to download it and give it a go. Seems like others are having the same issue I am. Which my issue is that, I run the launcher and my monitor seems to load the program, then it doesn't. As I enter my task manager it shows that CoP is running and taking up most of my memory/RAM so I end the process. I have done what you said Blazo about restarting and launching the actual luncher in the CoP directory, Hell.. I even launched it as Administrator, and nothing... same issue. I mean, if I can play WoW on this PC with a 20+ FPS rate, I should be able to play this game. So if you can come up with any new information on how I may be able to run the program, it'd be very helpful.

See thats the thing, you send negative attitude towards admins.. you really think they want to help you out? Same reason nobody that plays the game wants to help you out is because your whining over something that can be fixed if you have "Patience" which you do not have.

ok those who still having this problem feel free to add me on andylordow@yahoo.co.uk
otherwise follow these steps:
Uninstall cop
Open you C drive find the cop delete everything you can inside (If your on a different drive other C drive it may cause problems)
Delete any previous installs, patches
Again search your C drive for any files left behind and delete them as some have proved to create conflicts.
download cop straight from crownsofpower.com
install cop
Manually!!!!! download cop patches from http://forums.rampidgaming.com/showthread.php?t=5340
Or if your felling lucky then try the Launcher (Manually comes out with most results)
Launch Cop
Check the number in the top right hand corner
If it says todays recent patch your good to go if it doesnt go back to patching
You should be good to play
If it doesnt work contact me
if all this doesnt help im sorry you will have to wait for admins to patch it
34 and counting helped ;)
Edit: Do not pm me on this forum i dont check it often enough and dont reply here without it leading to another thread or email/Instant messanger

Judging by your post and lack of any sort of information it is impossible for anyone to know. Try posting some of the actual problems your having with actual error quotes or whatever.. if i was supposed to guess why it don't work i would have to say the problem is you not the pc itself.

its a program. http://hcidesign.com/memtest/
a free crappy one but it works. i found better one's in the past. but this should work as soon as you log onto your PC. close out of anything you dont need. stop running any programs in your lower right corner. and run that. if you have even 1 error you ram is unacceptable.

I just downloaded and installed the program. The prerequisites were already installed, but I installed them again just to make sure.
After installing, it popped up saying that updates were available.. those installed without a problem.
Then, when I click 'Play', I get this message: "Execution of command 'C:\Program Files\Crowns of Power/cop.exe -fromLauncher' failed (error 193: unknown error c1)
Attempting to run from the desktop shortcut gives the same error.
I have uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled everything twice and still get the same.
