that is true to some point, if they dont improve the games that are being released or get another console then the market will get depleted(or how you say it) atm it goes like this:

person 1 buys wii
p1 invites friends
friends buy wii
p1 stops playing
friends of p1 invite their friends
those friends buy wii

eventually there will be no other people buying, either because the people dont want it anymore or the games are to crappy.

ps3 is terrible in my opinion, the games suck for it, with the exception of metal gear. the only things it has going for it is its controller, which isn't the best for FPSs. it is more expencive even after its price drop
Then there's blueray, whoopdido, the load times are so long with blue ray that game developers placed the same data in multiple locations on the disc so the lazer dosen't have to move around as much therefore reducing load time.. overall effect.. less space on the disc resulting in pretty much the same game everyone else is getting. Xbox live is way better than PSN, no one cares or plays it. and its not like 50$ a year is all that much, I'm more than willing to pay for it instead of playing free online ps3 with 1-2 friends at the most.
PS3 also doesn't have backwards compatibility anymore, do to the price drop, which was one of the only things it had going for it in the first place.
It also has motion sensitive controllers, watch out. people don't even use that anyway. sure when you first buy your ps3 you might.. but give it a week or 2. and you'll be sitting there motionless like any other console. Its like thinking people who have a wii actually swing there controller all over the place when they use it. no they sit on the couch and flik their wrist around a little bit.
Speaking of wii, I would easily buy one of those before I got a ps3. while they may not have the same graphics as the other consoles and not much of an online setup. the wii has some bangin games. super smash bros, mario cart just to name a couple. those 2 alone can pass the time like none other

The fundamental difference between the wii and the other systems is that the wii is the bridge to the future with all of its testing of new design and interaction features, it's a beta test. The ps3 and xbox 360 aren't going anywhere when motion sensing is perfected with the next few systems and they're still stuck with their old formula.

2nd even if it is a beta test for the hardware then you still dont have to be slacking at the software, what is currently happening.

what can i say about this, the ps3 isnt always the most expensive console. it depends on the console buyers needs. does he want wifi, does he want a large harddisk if this is the case the ps3 is cheaper, does he want a console pure for the basic gaming then the 360 is cheaper. about games, currently the only difference between the 2 consoles are the exclusives what cover like 10% or less of the games library from the consoles, the rest are multiplatform, what for you sucks is for another one a great thing. speaking about the online play, basics are the same for live and psn. so the basic functions are on an equal lvl more the less, so you pay for the extra's of live(the are some but i dont know em:p) for me online play on the 360 is like a hidden cost, i dont care about the extra's i only care about playing online without lag and that is also the standard for psn(the same with live) you wont see that like 90% of the games lag online like some people(aka xbox fanboys) think.
speaking about backwards comp, well sony has dropped it(for now, rumours saying ps2 games coming to psn store). *i could say here something about it is currentgen now not lastgen but i wont*

well to say the same as i say above, the basics of online play are like virtually the same on psn as live, it is for the extra services that you pay. it is certainly not bad.

Playstation Network (even though it's free, it's terrible)
Lack of solid games
Six-axis' failure
Sony's ignorance for their studios (they market games starting @ the beginning of development, and continue to hype them if the idea is promising. They then check in maybe twice to review their choice. Then, the game is crap. Two PERFECT examples of this are: LAIR and Haze.)
Developers have yet to figure out how to design games suitable that will release the full power of the PS3 hardware, and perhaps never will. Next-gen systems will work in a different way with newer, easier to use hardware.


Xbox 360 Pros:
Wide selection of titles (including family games)
New digital movie rentals thru Netflix, rather than PS3's version
Xbox Live ($50 and well worth it to any gamer, you can still access some Xbox Live content without paying a dime)
Large catalog of QUALITY exclusives
Incredibly easy to switch Harddrives
Actually is the cheapest console now, as the Xbox 360 Arcade is now $199, under-cutting not only the PS3, but the Wii as well.

Xbox 360 Cons:
Bad reputation with the first few generations. 60% Failure rate was bad, but the new chipsets in the latest models have significantly reduced heat produced in the console.
No HD movies, unless rented/purchased via Xbox Live/Digital Netflix.


I work at a Best Buy and here pros and cons everyday. What I listed are merely the most simple and common plusses and minuses (more technical differences are obviously in existance).

Bottom Line:
1. Xbox 360
2. PS3
3. Wii (possibly the worst selection of games on a major console. Dreamcast > Wii)

downloading movies, game content(it is even better on ps3 because of the open network mods for unreal tournament as example) and also skins for xmb are avaible the ones in the store and the ones designed by players you can download.

The PS3 came a year later and the Xbox, and it's not that much better, but it's still a better system.
The Xbox has a much better online system.
They are pretty equal on games nowdays, Xbox used to be on top here, but not anymore.
All in all they are both decent, it just depends on what you want from a console. Would it be better if they were pretty much the same just with differen desgins?;)

I dont know why everybody say PSN sux i have both and i have only had 1 problem with PSN when they got hacked.... and i think that saved me upwards of $500 buck sence i didnt have to pay for live.. plus if you follow GameInformer they have givin out like 4, perfect scores for games 3 of them have been PS3 exclusives .... so i think that PS3 has better games plus the fact that the hardware must sux on xbox due to the fact that i have a FF13 game for ps3 its 1 disk for xbox its 4 disk..... and sence everything is going blu ray and the the rise in 3d tech if you look at the fact that a 3d bluray player is still 200 the ps3 only cost you about 200 so its cheaper too unless you want to buy an xbox and a blu ray play in which case it would be like 5-600..... the one thing i will give xbox is there kinetic is very nice far better than ps3eye
