Unless it is a crash for outwar, I do believe a mass e-mail should be sent to all members to state when a outwar servers will be down. If it will be shut down, it should be at night when less people are online playing.

If something "happens" to the site spontaneously, I don't think that's feasible.
They can't send us notices that "Hi Everyone, Outwar is gonna go down in 2 hours because a bug will become known at that time which, following, we will take down the site to fix it. Thank you"
LOL.
I don't believe they usually work on weekends so if they come in on weekends I'd assume it's because something not so nice happened.

In the good 6+ years this game has been out, has rampid EVER sent out an email saying they were shutting down the servers?
Nope.
Then why do it now?
This thread is pointless.

perhaps this is because mopst people use random email accts!!
the game doesn't go down without a good cause - it is the same for everyone - this isn't a planned outage - so no email notification could have happened

The point is, sometimes you do not know when something might happen or a bug might appear that requires immediate attention...
When they do however, do routine maintenance, they do make news posts about it.

Ever heard of self-updating systems?
You change the code, tell it to be updated at a certain time, and it will be updated at that time. Therefore you wouldn't have to get outta bed.
I do agree with the author of this thread, as well. A simple global news update, like they send basically every day anyway, 5 minutes before the fix would be enough to both inform people about the problem, and warn them of the downtime. Players would be much happier with it.
I'm gonna compare it with MMOs, since OW basically is one - a global message is sent 30 minutes before a scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, people know about it and log out accordingly. Now there's no need to log out in a safe place on OW, but you would know wether it's a good time to cast that skill or raid that boss now, or if you should wait.

I'm not saying that if it crashes...like what was stated....I'm saying if thier going through normal mantainance they should notice us and do it on the most inactive times, it is more professional to NOT inconvience the customer.

Which is also why there should be a test server, where they first do the update. That way, release bugs can be avoided, the code added can be optimized and they know the update worked like it should.
Not that I've heard of more than one auto-updating system that has failed.

Do you guys not realise that if they told everyone "Oh there's a bug on (insert bug)" then people won't go and abuse the glitch?
the less we know the better...

They wouldn't need to give the details, they could say "There's a bug in the explore page which we have to fix asap". Hell, they don't even have to say what part of the site it affects, just mention why the downtime happens and give an estimation on how long it'll be down would be enough.

Meh... why does it matter so much if outwar is going to be down then it goes down. If it is a planed thing then they have been doing good with giving everyone notice that it will be down however if it is unplanned then there is not much they can do about it.

Guess we don't use the same IP tracers then.
EDIT: You said you're in New Hampshire as well, did you even really change your IP to outwar's? There's no doubt it's located in the USA.

Notices are sent when they do know the site will go down. However, there are times where you can't send notices about something you don't know will happen.
