I guess since this is a forum to make OW better this is where my post belongs, if not please put it where it belongs. I have recently tried to purchase points and preferred player for my characters I just made due to the fact OW deleted all my old accounts when i quit before the rampid gaming system came out (thanks alot BTW, gotta say i miss old OW more and more everyday). I had never had a problem spending money on OW before and figured it would take a few button clicks and I'd be done. To my surprise and dismay I was no where close to being done. Apparently I have to either get a phone or mail in some form to be able to "validate my identity". I am in the military and have been for a few years, I have been to over 20 countries in the past few years including Iraq and Afghanistan so its been a pain in the rear to try to get a phone that will actually work in all the places I go and theres not much sense in getting one that will not work everywhere. So I think maybe there is a sensible person working at rampid that can see that I am trying to buy points that I am using a debit card that is in my name and will allow me to purchase points, but I was once again wrong. So I had a brainstorm and figured I would post it here.

I have a name, I share this name with less than 5% of the world (first and last name, not counting my middle name). I'm willing to bet the only one in OW with this name. So anyhow, I sign up for a rampid gaming account with my name. I then use my debit card i have had for years that also has the name that i signed up for my rampid gaming account. I also have to put in my address for my rampid gaming account, and the exact same address for my debit card so my bank can send me statements.

NOW.....for this system here to not work of a validation for someone being that their card and their rampid gaming account information to be the same, I figured out what needs to happen. I need someone to kidnap me, take my wallet from me, and go to the address that is on my driver's license. After getting to my home, the kidnapper would then take my keys from me to open my door, and then instead of stealing my stuff, put a gun to my head and force me to type my password to my computer in. Then look at my bookmarks or if the kidnapper plays OW decide to go to www.outwar.com. Then with the gun still to my head force me to again type in my user name and password. The kidnapper than forces me to buy points with my money for my account. if it was another OW player then maybe they would then send the points to their account, forcing me to type my security answer in.

But thank God for the phone call from rampid that would prevent this burglar from being able to validate my identity and save me a couple hundred dollars at most.

Yes this is an insane way of trying to make a point. but with the events listed above, i would rather not have to worry about a phone call, especially if i have no phone or in a country where rampid would not call, and take my chances with someone that plays OW to come kidnap me.

Basically put, the validation of the credit/debit card name and address being the same as the rampid gaming account information should be more than enough to validate anyone's identity. Imagine if all the porn sites i signed up for called me to verify, that would suck........

thats not the point, this is to prevent fraud mainly, i know it gets annoying and from what i hear stacey hasn't been on aim in AGES which is crap because aims the best way to get intouch with her and have her validate you.

also i know its annoying when you have to deal with being validated but its better for ow cause if someone gets ur info and starts buying points or something or you get hacked and they buy tons of points and transfer it to one of their accounts cause they got ur info some how, ie keylogger then ur TUT TUT.

just be happy about this precaution : /.

did you just read what all it would take for fraud to occur? maybe not quite that much, but even with keyloggers, they would have to know your ow info and your debit card info. personally i am willing to take that risk and say if someone went through the trouble of getting all that info from me, they deserve a few OW points

All that it takes for fraud to occur is for someone to find your lost credit card, which, believe it or not happens sometimes. From there, because "your name" is so rare it's a simple 1-2 hours spent looking for addresses around that particular area that match the credit card number and Boom. . .Fraud.

You may be willing to take that risk but it's a liability for Rampid.

I understand the fraud and people stealing identity's easily...............but the first thing they try to do is spend it on OW? On an account with the card bearer's name on it? DO OW players truly steal people's credit cards, then create an account with the person's name, buy a lot of points, then transfer all the points to their accounts? Maybe I'm too stupid to see how this one is a problem Rampid has had to deal with

Even better thing about buying points........So it's not enough that they need to call me and make sure I ma who I say I am when buying points, if I decide to spend my hard earned money the way I choose, then I have to provide my Military ID, Birth Certificate, and my soul to Rampid.

Before you tell me its for my benefit such as I may have clicked the buy points too many times button or whatever, I'll go ahead and say, I did do that, want to know what happened? I got the points I intended to buy, because the system will not accept a check with the same check number on it, therefore I only was charged what I intended to spend. And if this is for an identity check, why was calling me the first time a good way of checking, but no longer is? I thought you guys making money was a good thing, not so bad you had to try to make your paying customers quit. Maybe i just didn't spend enough to make you guys want to keep me as a customer.

Yeah like I've said before buying cars and stuff on eBay is a lot easier than buying freaking ow points. crazy.
