Bring Name Changing back

I kinda want to update the names of several characters on my RGA but haven't had the chance.

As much as people would like them name changes made scamming very easy. You could scam all you want and then noone would know it's you once you hit name change! The only way to watch out for this would be through your ID number and I can't even remember my own!

Only dumb people get scammed, and you can allways bookmark or put the 'scammer' as an ennemy.

lol, the name change thing was a scammer best friend, And I agree with egnar, ow people can be really smart at times, but can also be idiots at other times

I think they should bring them back A LOT of people want to change there name.

To prevent a scamer just changing his name just add a link to a list of old names that id has has in his profile.

But if people get scamed it is there own fault 90% of the time anyway.

Adding this, just makes it easier for these people to be prayed upon. Even if you make it more points scammers will just move onto bigger scams.

I agree. Just make the trade log/point transfer show the new name when its changed

It shouldnt affect scamming at all. No matter what you change your name to, your USER IS is ALWAYS the same. And mods/admins easily track them down.

this shouldn't effect scamming at all espically now with RGA's this would be a perfect thing to bring back, and if the people will spend the points to change all accounts on the RGA why not keep a log of name changes?

Wasn't name changing removed due to all the problems it was cuasing? if they where to bring it back, i'm sure those problems would come back and then removed again.

No the reason they gave was because with the RGA system it wasnt compatable, but i am sure if they wanted to they could rewrite it for the RGA system to work again.

Being a website programmer it is easy to follow who has changed their name. I'm sure Outwar developers do it the same they get all of our information from our ID's so changing your user name/outwar name wouldn't make a difference to anything because the ID remains the same. Running a MySQL Query would normally gather our information from our id as when you login it displays your ID in the URL bar along with the Server ID. So any query's using the ID would result in auto updating everything on Outwar. For instance the trade logs would automatically update them selves so would attack logs etc etc.

On the other hand why change your name I've played since round 6, not same ID because i got deleted thanks OW. But I've always had the same user name

Outwar can easily track a scammer, players cannot. Even with an ID it's much easier to remember a name.

name change wasn't removed due to scamming, its due to accounts being sold and thats the solid reason why its removed.

Even if scamming did become a problem again with name change we have our super-duper Monitors and Head Moderators to help resolve those issues in a timely fashion. They've been doing such a super job lately ^_^

i agree with that, you get scammed and its very obviously ones, you deserve it to lose what every you lost.

for example:

"Selling unlimitied ultimate PP memberships for 2000 points msg me for details they last forever"

If someone would fall for that, they deserve it and hope the admin laughs at you. Because everyone else will.

Yeah, I think it should be brought back, too. If you get scammed or hacked, a simple name change isn't going to stop an admin from finding who has your items. The items have specific id numbers which can be traced, not to mention they could just check trade logs very easily..

Ye would love to see Name Change back in the game. Dont really see how it can be a result of scamming, people jsut have to be smart what they doing and check things before they do them

a quest could be made for renaming, simply collect 5 things combine them in the cauldron and it mixes into a rename card(hehe FF6) because its a quest it'll be harder to abuse, because now its work and not a simply purchase.

Meh. I don't recall name change ever being free so I doubt they'll do so if it's brought back. It's really a good way for them to get players to spend points. Heck, I'm pretty sure lots of people will spend points on it.

Well i guess you never really know, they had the skill reset thing as a quest you could do one time before adding it to treasury so maybe for a week people have the chance to get 1 name change for free then after the first week they put it into the treasury :p but i highly doubt it..

I like the fact they removed it as well, this is just to confusing and leads to people using a lot of vulgarity as well
