Hey, awesome, I love the axe.
My favorite band I'd have to say is Nine Inch Nails, although not really known for his guitar playing, the man behind the band knows how to write. As far as guitarists, I'm a huge fan of John Petrucci. I've played Ibanezes since I started playing and I currently have an Ibanez ART30 I think? It's a beautiful solid body electric with a couple of super smooth EMG pickups and a glossy blue faded wood grain sunburst finish. I just picked up a Peavy Vyper amp. Pretty good for a 15 watt amp, it has a bunch of amp models and effects. I've been playing on an off for 6-7 years now and I'm mostly into metal but I play other stuff too.

Nice man, if you ever wanna get a bigger amp, i'd recommend the Line 6 Spider series! They come with a wide variety of preset modes, 4 of which are SUPERB for metal or hard rock! It's got some sweet effects available too!

Yeah I love Line 6 stuff but the Peavy I got was only $120 which is how much my buddy paid for his amp without all the extra modeling business, so it was a pretty good deal. I'd love to get my hands on a Variax some day because those are so cool :D

Nah it's not just for 6 stringers! Almost all guitarists and bassists are invited to post in this thread: unless you only play mandolin or uke, in which I say 'I don't care'! :p

Nice, not many people go with Yamahas for guitars anymore. I've always enjoyed Slash's playing, I just havn't been too influenced by it. Make sure to research your next guitar purchase thuroughly, though seeing as you like Slash, I bet you'll follow through with that Les Paul. Please tell me you are going Gibson and not Epiphail!

Hahahaha... gibson all the way man... can't beat the best. I was a fingernail away from buying a Les Paul studio a couple of years back... but decided to get into another hobby "shooting =D" so that put that plan on hold. I have the money for a Custom now, but i really dont wanna blow my $$ when im about to move to a full time job n get a house in a few months =/.

ESP is a far superior guitar maker than Gibson ...but then again my little local shop only stocks Epiphones so what the hell do I know?
Yet, my custom owns ESP:

Well... ESP is better at making guitars that are used for almost all genres of Metal, they just handle the insane amounts of gain better. I own an ESP F-50 and I use it over my 1950s Fender Stratocaster when I play anything that's going to be dropped D or lower. If i'm going for a sweeeet groove, i'll choose the Fender over the ESP any day. The tone and feel are better. I compared the Strat to the ESP Standard Series Viper and the ESP M-I Standard NTB Electric Guitar, but neither compared in middle and treble tones used for what I play, so I picked the Fender :p

Ah, that's probably it. I'm a metal man self which, which was why I ended up getting and ESP (LTD) all those years ago and think they're better than anything else. I also have a Dean that I play if I don't want to play in B tuning (and because it looks like Dimebag's Dean from Hell).
All of which gets played though my Crate Amp.
